The name GRATE-CAP, the place where the cellar and vat-room are situated, just in the middle of the vines, is derived from the Old Latin which some people freely translate as “a gathering of wines producing a delicious wine".
This vineyard, planted on a gravel soil over a clayey an iron-pan subsoil, is composed of selected grape varieties vines, producing about 50 tonneaux* of a very full-bodied wine, excessively fragrant and very much in demand.
Guy & Barbara Janoueix also own Château SAMSON in Pomerol, Château PETIT-CLOS-FIGEAC, Château GRAND FORTIN and Domaine de LA BOURRUE in Saint-Emilion.
Pomerol wines are powerful and tannic ; they are good with spicy food ; of great guard.
